..happily ever after..

it was april 15, 2006. i was standing at the shuttle stop, right outside the oakridge apartment complex. it was one of those all too rare mid-april days in logan, ut - sunny, warm and beautiful. as i stood admring the blossoming trees and blue skies, out of the corner of my eye i noticed his snowy white shoes. "are those new shoes?" i asked. (he looks down, then says) "yeah, actually, they are." and that is where our story began.

over the next two weeks our relationship progressed quite rapidly...NOT!! haha we became friends on myspace (so lame, i know) and ran into each other one other time at the bus stop i believe. lance was a big time ladies man, so he didn't have much time for me apparently. plus, it was the end of the semester and in no time i moved outta little old logan and began a summerlong adventure in siena, italy. yes, italy. who knows what lance did all summer.

we wrote each other twice during the summer, via myspace of course. lance's #1 form of communication was always myspace. i am sure he stalked my page all summer, you know, keeping tabs on where i was and what i was up to. i may have looked at his page once or twice, only to find out he kept the company of quite a few lady friends all summer. of course this didn't bother me at all, #1 i barely knew him, and #2 i was too busy traveling the world at the time.

then came fall. i was back in logan for school. lance was still there. we ran into each other on september 26 (2006). don't ask me why i know all these dates!! i was standing in the tsc flirting with this guy and up walks lance, my "white shoes" boy. he got my number (about time, eh!) and invited me to go to a bonfire the next day. "um yeah, sure. call me," i said, and that was that. little did i know that him inviting me to the bonfire did not equate to a date, but more so a "come to this bonfire and see how many girls you have to beat to get to me." needless to say, i did not go to the bonfire because he never did call me!! well, not that weekend anyway. finally, 2 days went by and i got a text from him. YES, a text. boy did this one have a lot to learn!! anyway, our first "date" was a couple days later, and consisted of watching a movie and making root beer floats. we didn't have a second date for quite a while, due to the fact that i kinda wrote him off after the first date. don't get me wrong, he was a complete gentleman - opened my doors, walked me to the car when i left for the evening, always made sure i was comfortable - however, i could see right through his little ploy. i had dated guys like him before and silently vowed, never again. so i told him i wasn't interested and went on with life.
well, that resistence only lasted for a few weeks. he was just too good looking and charming, and i couldn't help giving him another chance. over the next 16 months we dated...on...then off...then on...then off...on again....off...on....off...on...offfffffff.....oooonnnnnnnnnn....off! yes, it was quite the rollercoaster. we had many good times though. together we went to canada, fruita (colorado), san diego, jackson hole, and billings montana. we saw many movies, went to tons of jazz games, ate at lots of restaurants, floated down canals and rivers, hiked, biked, camped, 4-wheeled, cooked and did lots of things together basically. he was my best friend, and i was his.
then he bought a house and moved to salt lake. it was sad for both of us, but a real turning point in our relationship, and a turning point for the better at that. i think that is when we both realized how much we meant to each other, so after more on...off.....on.....offffff... we finally decided to stay onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn....for good. he proposed on february 14, 2008, we had a 10-month engagement (don't ask me why?!?!?!) and were finally married on december 10, 2008.

and now we are living happily ever after!!!

Becky! For some reason, I remember sitting at Ruby Tuesday and hearing the story about how you asked Lance if his shoes were new! Haha. I'm glad it worked out for you two!

bonfires were the cool thing for all of those guys. I loved the story. Gary and I weren't really that involved with you guys, but we always heard about becky and lance from dave and jenny and if you guys were "on" or "off". Glad you decided to stay on. :)

Love the story!! How awesome that you were myspace friends! Ha ha. I hadn't ever really heard how you met.. I think the first time I ever hung out with the two of you was at Dan's apartment at Oakridge when we were all playing 31 and you came over with Lance.. And I remember that when I first met Lance he put my number in his phone as "Kristin Walker" .... He said so that he would remember that he met me through Dan, and I remembered being all weirded out that he called me Kristin Walker... I guess Lance read my future! :)
